18" Wengue Drueke Chess Board with 1 3/4" Squares
Few chess boards in America have the history of the Drueke chess boards. These boards are neither veneers nor inlays - they are actual solid blocks of wood made from Wengue and Maple. Additionally, they can be recognized by the signature grooved edging around the playing surface.Sadly, Drueke has stopped making these chess boards. However, we have been able to comission a limited number of the boards - now completely hand-made, from Bill Drueke himself, grandson of the original. These boards are lovingly hand-crafted in Michigan with the same source materials as the classics.
This Drueke Chess board is 18" x 18" with 1 3/4" squares and is the proper size for many 'executive' size chess pieces that are 3" to 3 1/2" tall.

Sometimes it is hard to select a gift from the internet, but this Chess Board far exceeds my expections. It is heavy & sturdy and will last a lifetime. It is so well constructed it will be hard to damage. In fact it was so well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. I made the chess pieces and this is a great board to be used for these pieces.
