Wanted something that I could keep in the car for when the moment arises. Not too big but not too small either. This 12" board hits that sweet spot. The board itself is really beautiful and feels solid! Definitely has some heft to it for being a smaller board. Not only does the board have a felt back, but the inside (bottom) of the case is felted too, so you can flip the board in the case facing the felt, and then the felt on the back of the board further protects the pieces. The pieces are fairly small but still feel nice to play with. The magnets don't seem strong at first but they're really the perfect strength. Flip the board upside down, move to another room mid game, your pieces will stay right where they are. Plus you can also place the pieces on the side of the board, as that's also magnetic. The case is great too, love that the pieces fit snug in the slots. They're very easy to remove too which I was kind of worried about. The size reminds me of a trapper keeper/binder, just more square. Overall I'm super impressed with this set, and really glad I went with the large. Even played a game on it at the bar the other night with my girl. I actually think she likes this set more than my nice wood set 😂
