18" Solid Brass and Wood Artistic Arena Staunton Chess Set

These imported Italian chess pieces are some of the most unique and impressive of our staunton collection.

The metal parts of the set are solid brass and when you hold the pieces in your hand, you can feel it! Between the base and top of the pieces is a step with genuine hardwood, two contrasting looks that go brilliantly together.

This chess set comes in a flip top box with individual chess piece inserts in a styrofoam sheet. It is a great way to keep them protected, although they can also go in one of our humidor style chess boxes.

This fantastic and unique chess board features an arena-like coliseum design where the outer squares are raised and the pieces descend in to the battlefield below.

The squares on this board are walnut for the dark squares and a glossy mother-of-pearl for the light side. An artistic mosaic surrounds the base of the entire board.

Unlike many boards, it is difficult to determine the correct size pieces for this board. This is because some squares are smaller than others in the rounded design. It looks fantastic with an assortment of metal and resin theme chess pieces, but could also be used for more traditional chessmen.

This board includes a simple zippered storage case.
