These chess pieces are Ebonized and Antiqued Boxwood, which can suit virtually any board color, however Walnut, Teak, and Ebonized chess boards are most popular.
Ebonized Chess Pieces are actually Boxwood pieces lacquered black, giving them a pure black appearance almost identical to ebony, but for a fraction of the cost.

Well weighted, nicely carved, and a lovely hue.
The irises on the knights are goofy and disturbing; they didn’t exactly photograph in the advertising, but they are more visible in the close up.
Three stars for the add-on box, which seems to be made for a smaller set of Staunton pieces. The set takes a lot of finesse to put into the box, where the pieces are crowded when they’re away.
The king barely fits on the red marble board squares, the rest of the pieces fit it quite well and the colors complement between the pieces and the board.
