4 1/2" Heritage Collection Mark of Westminster Crimson Rosewood Landgrave Staunton Chess Pieces

The Mark of Westminster Heritage Collection features some of the finest heirloom quality chess men available today. These chess pieces are extremely well weighted and each set includes extra queens. These Staunton chess sets feature the finest hand carved detail possible as well as red leather bases. Each set includes a certificate of authenticity as well as the Mark of Westminster logo beneath each king.

This is the Crimson Rosewood and Boxwood version of the Landgrave design, and is best suited for 2 1/4" - 2 1/2" chess boards.

Landgrave Design:
The Landgrave is one of the most detailed chess sets we have ever seen. This premier set feature pieces with a large number of embellished details. The king has a more unique rounded cross atop a rounded head, a large wide mouthed bishop, and a knight with a flowing wavy mane.

These chess pieces are Crimson Rosewood and Boxwood, which are most often paired with Mahogany and Macassar chess boards, but will also go with most dark woods as well.

Crimson Rosewood Chess Pieces vary from a light red to a deep red wine color, and is well regarded as one of the most exclusive exotic woods used for chess pieces. It is a hard wood, with a strong grain variation. The wide variety of colors make them quite unique, with the age of wood being the most common factor in the difference. This is a premier hardwood, compared most often in price to Ebony.

Boxwood Chess Pieces are the near universal standard for 'white' chess pieces in hand-carved sets. It is a fairly easy wood to work with, and shows off good detail.
