This set is nicely made. The carving is neatly done, pieces feel good in the hand, the finish well executed. The pieces have a nice weight to them. I like a solid board so it can rest on an armchair or soft surface. The magnetic is great for keeping the pieces in place, even on a vertical, yet is hardly noticeable when moving the pieces. The case is very convenient and secure. It is just large enough for two person play and can be handed back and forth if you are sitting side by side such as on a plane. My primary use is for study. It fits perfectly on my armchair. I greatly enjoy it. It gives the convenience of a portable magnetic set with the feel of a nice wood set.
