FAQ - Purchasing and Our Chess Store
Q: How long have you been in business?
Our chess store started in 1978 primarily as a chess computer store. In the nineties, we expanded to mostly chess sets and other games as well. You can find out more in our About our Chess Store page.
Q: Where is your Chess Store located?
We are located in Massapequa, New York (It's on Long Island). See more in our Visit our Chess Store page.
Q: What forms of payment does Chess USA accept?
All Major Credit Cards: Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and Discover. We also accept Paypal and check or money order.
Q: What about COD?
We do not currently accept COD payment, but if you are local, you can certainly pay in cash at our retail store.
Q: How can I pay via check or money order?
Place the order online and choose check payment. We'll reserve the items for you until the chess arrives. Please make the check or money order out to "Your Move Chess & Games". We cannot ship your order until we receive the check.
Q: Do you match prices from your competitors?
We certainly try! If you ever find an item at another website for the same price, please either call or email and let us know. As long as it is an in stock item, we will do our best to match it. It does need to be the same item (not a similar item), and it needs to be in stock.
Q: What about International Orders?
We do accept international orders! Due to dimensional weight requirements, some items may be too large to go to a specific location. We also need to find a shipping quote for you before processing your order.
Q: How do you ship International Orders?
We offer Priority Mail International and Express Mail International. UPS Worldwide is also available, but extremely expensive. We can provide a quote upon request
Q: How long does it take to receive my chess set?
Most orders are filled within 48 hours. You can see a shipping map under our "Shipping" policies. Most domestic orders would be received in 2 - 10 business days. International orders take longer, usually 2 - 3 weeks for delivery.
Q: I need my order faster. Can I do that?
Yes. We offer Overnight air, 2nd Day Air, and 3-Day Select. In Addition we have "Rush" Shipping, which means your order will go out via ground the same day the order is placed (as long as it comes in before 3PM Eastern).Answer:
Q: I work for a school / church / government institution / chess club. Can I order via purchase order?
Yes. Simply fax a signed, authorized purchase order to us at 1-516-882-9008. Our standard terms are net 30.
Q: What about tax?
Our business operates out of New York. If you are in New York, your order will be subject to tax. If you in New York and you are a nonprofit or otherwise exempt entity, please let us know your tax exempt number.
Q: Can I order wholesale?
We do offer various wholesale programs; we have a drop ship program as well as a store-stocked program. Please email us for more information.

Q: What happens if I the chess set I ordered arrived damaged?
We never want you to receive a damaged item, and any of us can relate to how frustrating it is to finally receive a long awaited chess set or other item just to find it chipped or damaged. Sometimes it happens in shipping, sometimes it was damaged from the factory. Any way you look at it, we want to make the ease of replacement as painless as possible.
If you receive a damaged item, just send us an email or give us a call. Most of the time we can just send out the item/part right out. Don't worry. All of our shipments are insured. We will file a claim with UPS and provide you with additional information as needed.
Q: What if I want to return my order?
Buying the right chess set is difficult. We get it. Sometimes the item is not what you expected, or something you simply do not want. Yes, you can return your order! It is best to give us a call or email first. What you will need to do is include a copy of the packing slip along with the item and send it back to our address (listed above) postmarked within 2 weeks of receiving your order. (We extend this policy around the holiday season for gifts) If you want to return it, just ask for a credit. If you want to exchange it, let us know that too.
Please note there is a 5% restocking fee on returned items. Gift Wrap, Shipping, Special Order, Scratch and Dent, and Chess Software is not returnable/refundable. Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.
Q: What if I want to exchange my order?
Same as returning it, really - but no restocking fee would apply for an exchange.
Q: How do I know I can trust your chess store?
This is a difficult one. We have been in the chess business since 1978 with literally tens of thousands of customers. We have an A+ rating with the BBB.
