18" Purpleheart Drueke Chess Board with 1 3/4" Squares

Few chess boards in America have the history of the Drueke chess boards. These boards are neither veneers nor inlays - they are actual solid blocks of wood made from Purpleheart and Maple. Additionally, they can be recognized by the signature grooved edging around the playing surface.

Sadly, Drueke has stopped making these chess boards. However, we have been able to comission a limited number of the boards - now completely hand-made, from Bill Drueke himself, grandson of the original. These boards are lovingly hand-crafted in Michigan with the same source materials as the classics.

This Drueke Chess board is 18" x 18" with 1 3/4" squares and is the proper size for many 'executive' size chess pieces that are 3" to 3 1/2" tall.
