How to Search

      For a more specific search you can use our advanced search function, named PowerSearch. Go to the home page and find the navigation bar just below our logo, at the top of the page. Click on PowerSearch. Now as soon as we get the thing working, we will talk about exactly how to use PowerSearch. It is currently in the beta-test phase of its development and as soon as we are confident the code is stable and funtional it will be available to our customers.

  We have tried to design this site with the most simple and intuitive way to order products online. Since you already know how to search for specific items, let's assume you know what it is to you would like to order, but, instead of searching, you want to browse our entire listing of chess pieces, choose from one and then order it. Let's go through this example. From the home page, select "Enter our Store". From here you will see the BlitzSearch© we already discussed. Below that you will see what is shown in the image to the right. You have two choices, either "Chess Products" or "Other Games". Since we are hypothetically looking for chess pieces, we of course click on "Chess Products" which is depicted by the chessboard image on the left. If you wanted other games like Backgammon, checkers, cribbage, GO, or any of the many other games we provide, you would click on the "Other Games" selection depicted by the Backgammon board on the right. You now have arrived at a category page with images of specific chess product categories. You will see images that will help you identify the different product groupings with written descriptions below the images. You can also access our "Specials" page, which is mentioned in the area to the left. This page has specially reduced price items on sale. The specials page changes often so make sure you bookmark for quick reference from time to time. Also, below the specials link, you can access the "Mail Order Policies Page", which outlines information about shipping methods, costs and other policies regarding our mail order system.

      Since we are looking for chess pieces, we shall select "Chess Pieces" by clicking on the image. And through the wonders of web page design, we are brought to a listing of various chess piece types. You should also take note, that on these particular pages you will find direct links to special articles and information pages relevant to the specific category you are in. In this case, there are two articles relating to the woods used in chess pieces named "Wonderful Woods for Chess Pieces" and a link to our guideline for choosing the right boards for your pieces called Chess Piece & Chessboard Sizing Guidelines. Now let's assume you are looking for a nice set of Ebony Staunton style chessmen. As you can see, there is a link to "Ebony and Boxwood Pieces". Click on this link.

      Now you arrive at a listing for all of the ebony pieces we sell. This listing is where you can read a complete description of the items, view images, see the price of the item, and enter the quantity of the items you want to order. In the description, if you see characters in red, this means there is a special sale going on on that particular item. It will show you what we normally sell the item for and the additional discount being offered on the current special. The price is also shown in red and reflects the actual sale price of the item. If you move your cursor on to the description and click, you will be taken to a high resolution image of the item in question. To the left of the description, you will notice a small text box. This is where you enter the quantity of the item you want to purchase. If you only want one, then you click your cursor in the box and enter the digit "1" in that box. The number you enter will be added to your shopping cart at the next step. To the right of the description, you will see the item number and the discounted price. Let's say you want to order the 4" Ebony Special Classic Staunton Chess Pieces, and a Palisander chess board to match. You would find these items and enter the number "1" into the text box to the left of the description of each item. Now you have done this for all the items you want to purchase today and are ready to place your order. At this point click on the "View Cart-Modify Cart-Checkout Stand" button. This will take you to the View or Modify Cart page. This page will allow you to check over your order.

At this page make sure all your items are listed and check to make sure your quantities are correct. You can modify your order at this time. Once you are sure everything is correct and you are ready to pay for your order, click on the "Go to Checkout Stand (Secure)" button underneath the order list. This will then send you to our Verisign© encrypted order form. If you browser is an old one and it does not support encryption schemes, your browser will tell you so.To read in more detail about our Verisign© encryption system, go to our "Security" page. Once you have clicked on the checkout stand button, you will see the "Order Form" page.

      On this page, your order is displayed, with an estimated shipping charge. This is also the page where you enter in all your personal information like your name, address, shipping address, credit card information, etc. Please study the image below. Check this information over thoroughly. It is your order. Make sure you understand the shipping procedure by reviewing the image below. You can select the type of shipping you would like. The shipping cost will be displayed in the selection dialog box while you are making your selection. It is based on the item you have ordered. If you are shipping outside of the Continental U.S., please make sure you click the button for this option.
     
On this page you should scroll to view the entire page before proceeding further. As is the case for all web pages, if a scroll bar appears in your browser, usually on the right hand side of the page, then there is more information on the page below what you can already see. Another way of looking at it is if your are viewing a piece of paper that is 8 inches wide but may also be 40 inches long. The scroll bar will allow you see the whole page all the way down to the bottom and any place in between. If you scroll down this page, you will come upon the order form itself.

      Our order form is fairly straight forward. We would like to reiterate that any information you supply us is kept strictly confidential and is never sold or distributed outside this company. We do not sell our mailing list or customer information to outside parties. The information is also limited to only our staff who are directly involved in the processing of your order. We value our customers' privacy. It is important to remember to fill out this form completely. As good as we are, we cannot read your mind, and, in order for us to make sure your order is processed and delivered to you quickly, all the requested information must be supplied by you, and done so accurately. The first line is for your name. This should be how your name appears on your credit/debit card, check, or money order. The next line is for an eMail address (if you have one). This information is vital for you to automatically receive shipping information like an estimated time of arrival and a UPS tracking number. Should your package be shipped via UPS, your email address must be exact and precise. Next is your daytime telephone number. It is important to include an area code. This is very important. This is the only way we can contact you if we need to check on your order or resolve any problem that may arise. The next entry field is for you to tell us how you found our site or how you know of us. Please be specific. The next thing you enter is the shipping address. Make sure this is absolutely accurate or you package will be shipped to someone else's address. If this is being sent to an address other then your own as a gift, click the box under the address until it shows a check mark. This way your invoice will be mailed to you and not the person receiving your gift. In this circumstance, you also need to fill in your address in the next box so we can mail you your invoice.      The next box to fill in is the comments box. Here you can send us any comment, question, complaint (be nice) or anything on your mind. Next is your payment method for your order. If you look at this section you will see a variety of things you can check off. As you can see we accept most major credit cards, checks or money order. Click the method you want to use. Next, if you used a credit card, enter the credit card number exactly as it appears on the card. Then enter the date of expiration. Use the month date format, for instance if your credit card expires January of 2004, use 01/04 or 0104 using four digits only. In addition, just below the date box you will see a field to enter the 800 number for your bank which is located on the back of your card. Fill this in.

      The final step is upon you! Scroll back up to the top of the page and carefully check that all of the information you filled out is accurate. You may want to print a copy of this order for your records. This is done by using your web browsers "Print" funtion, most likely located in the "File" pull down menu. When you are confident the information is correct, you can now click on the "submit order" button at the bottom of the page. By doing this you would now be sending this information to our server for processing. This is the point of no return and once this button is pressed you order will be processed and shipped. Important Note:Only press this button once! It may take up to a minute or two for your browser to send the information, so after you click the submit button, nothing may apparently happen. Just wait until you see the "Processing Order" page come up on your screen. This screen comes up on your computer once we receive your order. Within an hour (typically several minutes), you should receive an email acknowledgement that our server received your order. In 1 to 3 days you will receive an email from us telling your that you shipment is on its way (if it was shipped UPS) and also it will give you an estimated day of arrival, UPS tracking number, and other information related to your package. Keep in mind this only occur if you submit to us a valid email address with your order, and, if we shipped your order via UPS.
