21 1/4" Standard Wood Chess Board with 2 1/4" Squares

There is not much that is standard with our standard wood chess boards. These affordable wood veneers come in a variety of wood types and are imported direct from the manufacturer in Poland. These full size tournament chessboards are an excellent choice to pair with both staunton and theme chess pieces that range from 3 3/4" - 4 1/4", but check the base size of your pieces to ensure adequate room.

The standard line of boards feature a nice large border compared to the executive line. It also features felt pads that work as a protection to the table or surface you display your chessboard on.

This chessboard is available in a number of different wood combinations, some of which are available with or without chess notation.

Mahogany and Sycamore Chess Board (available with or without notation)
Mahogany is a reddish brown wood that pairs with most colors from black to cardinal and crimson rosewoods. The wood itself varies from light, orange-brown to a deeper, reddish brown.

Walnut and Sycamore Chess Board (available with or without notation) Walnut is considered a classic wood for chess boards and is seen in modern and old world designs. It is a medium-brown wood that pairs nicely with just about every wood color so it is always a safe choice.

Wengue and Sycamore Chess Board
Wengue is very dark - taking a near charcoal black appearance. If you desire a wood chess board that is close to black as possible but maintaining a wood grain, this is a fantastic choice. We often see it paired with ebony, ebonized staunton, or painted figurine chess pieces.

Black and Sycamore Chess Board If you are after a solid black board, this is the way to go. Many chess sets from painted theme, ebonized wood, and brass and metal staunton work well with this color.
