17 1/2" Standard Wood Chess Board with 1 3/4" Squares

There is not a whole lot that is standard about our standard wood chess boards. These boards are affordable wood veneers that we import from Poland and come in a variety of wood types matched with Sycamore. It is an excellent choice to pair with both staunton and theme chess pieces that range from 3" - 3 1/2" tall.

This board features a nice, larger border than you would find on the executive style Mark of Westminster boards if you'd like a little more color from your chessboard. Additionally, these boards have felt pads underneath to help protect the surface they rest on.

Made in Poland

This board is available in a number of different wood options, and some also are available with or without notation.

Mahogany and Sycamore
Mahogany is a reddish brown wood that pairs very well with most colors from black to cardinal and crimson rosewood.

Walnut and Sycamore
Walnut is considered a classic chess board wood and pairs nicely with every wood color. It is a good medium-brown base that works with many different styles from classic to modern.

Wengue and Sycamore
Wengue is a very dark wood that takes a charcoal black appearance. If you're looking for a black board but still want the feeling of a wood grain, this is an excellent choice. We often see it paired with ebony and ebonized staunton chessmen, or painted figurine pieces.
