Everyone Likes Choice. We sometimes take that philosophy to the extreme by offering hundreds of boards to choose from. Each are unique and there are chess boards that fit virtually any budget.
Our deluxe inlaid chessboards make a striking match to many of our Mark of Westminster Chess Pieces, as they are made from many of the same woods. An inlay involves actual blocks of wood as opposed to a veneer, which is the standard construction of most chess boards. These boards also have a full felt backing and a semi-gloss finish.
Crimson Rosewood is a reddish wood with a strong grain. This is a wood exotic, and is therefore becoming more rare as the supply becomes more limited. There is the greatest amount of individual variation with this wood, based on the age of the tree when cut. Younger trees tend to be a lighter red color, while older trees become a very deep red. This is a truly unusual and exotic wood, ideal for use with ebony and crimson rosewood chess pieces. It pairs extremely well with cherries and mahoganies as well.
